Each year in the U.S., 1 in 10 babies is born preterm. Preterm birth is a birth that happens too soon, before 37 weeks of pregnancy. Babies born too early may face life-threatening complications and have lifelong health problems. In honor of World Prematurity Day, Kappa Beta Zeta raises awareness of this serious health crisis.

That’s why, in partnership with March of Dimes, who is leading the fight for the health of all moms and babies, we’re advocating for policies to protect them and working to find solutions to improve the care they receive.

To bring further attention to this cause and extend our reach in the community, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Kappa Beta Zeta Chapter - Milwaukee, in partnership with the March of Dimes, Woman's Club of Wisconsin, and Mayor Cavalier Johnson of Milwaukee, took steps to proclaim November as Prematurity Awareness Month in the City of Milwaukee!
